This page explains what information this website collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We have written it in plain language rather than legal shorthand, because a policy nobody can read protects nobody.

Hyattsville Dental Care is a general and cosmetic dental practice led by Dr. George Harding, located at 3311 Toledo Terrace, suite c203, Hyattsville, Maryland 20782. You can reach us at (301) 559-0404.
This policy covers hyattsvilledentalcare.com and the information handled through it. It does not cover other websites you may reach by following a link from ours.
If you fill in a form on this site, you choose what to send. Depending on the form, that may include:
Please do not use a website form to send detailed medical information. A form submitted over the internet is not a secure channel for that, and a phone call is both safer and faster.
Like most websites, ours records basic technical information when you visit. That typically includes your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you looked at, how long you stayed, and the site you arrived from. This is standard server and analytics data. It is not used to work out who you are.
This page is not our HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices. Your dental records and the protected health information we hold as your dental provider are governed by HIPAA and by Maryland law, and by our separate Notice of Privacy Practices. Ask the front desk for a copy, or call (301) 559-0404 and we will provide one.
The distinction matters. This policy covers the website. The Notice of Privacy Practices covers your care. Information you type into a website form before you become a patient is website information. Once you are a patient and that information enters your dental record, it is protected health information and is handled under HIPAA.
We use what you send us to do the thing you contacted us about, and to run the practice. Specifically:
We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, and we do not trade it. We do not send marketing email to people who have not asked to hear from us.
We share information only where there is a reason to:
We do not give your information to advertisers or data brokers.
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. This site uses them to keep the site working properly and, where analytics are enabled, to count visits and see which pages are read.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The site will still work if you do, though some conveniences may not carry between visits.
Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. There is still no agreed industry standard for responding to it, so we do not currently change our behavior based on that signal.
A few outside services run on this site, and each has its own privacy policy:
We do not control how these companies handle the data their services collect. If that matters to you, their own privacy policies are the place to look.
Website enquiries are kept only as long as we need them to deal with your request and to keep a sensible record of correspondence. Dental records are a separate matter and are retained for the period required by Maryland law and by our professional obligations.
This site is served over an encrypted connection, and access to our systems is limited to staff who need it to do their jobs. Our practice systems are maintained with security in mind and staff are trained on handling patient information.
We will not claim more than that. No method of transmitting information over the internet is completely secure, and any business that tells you otherwise is overselling. This is exactly why we ask you not to send detailed medical information through a web form.
You can:
Call (301) 559-0404 or come by the office and ask. We may need to confirm who you are before releasing information, which protects you rather than us.
We treat patients of every age, and children are welcome in this practice. This website, however, is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect information online from children under 13. A parent or guardian should be the one filling in any form on this site.
If you believe a child has sent us information through this website, call us and we will remove it.
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will make that clear rather than quietly editing a line. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
Questions about this policy, about what we hold, or about your records:
A phone call gets you a faster answer than anything else, and it is the right channel for anything involving your health information.
New patients welcome
Call the office and we will find a convenient time to see you.
